Jim has extensive experience in law firm management and leadership development. His consulting practice includes law firm mergers, strategic planning, compensation system review and restructuring, management of high performers and leadership coaching. He has coached law firm chairs and managing partners, as well as individual lawyers on business development and practice management issues. Prior to joining LPC, Jim practiced law for nearly 35 years. He chaired Drinker Biddle’s litigation department, building it into a national practice. During his last five years at the firm, he served as chairman. Over Jim’s eight plus years in firm leadership positions, Drinker Biddle doubled in size, opening six new offices. The firm also added several new practice groups and developed a national reputation in a number of practice areas; most notable: defense of class action litigation lawsuits for pharmaceutical companies and the protection of Intellectual property.
Jim speaks frequently about law firm issues for organizations that have included the Law Firm Leadership Summit, the Law Firm Leadership Conference, as well as continuing legal education programs. He has been profiled in the Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer and is often called to comment upon trends in the legal marketplace. Currently, he is a fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar and is a member of the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court.
