While attending the Legal Marketing Association’s Southeast Chapter convention in Orlando recently, a group of colleagues and I ventured in the hotel’s restaurant for a meal. Normally I am skeptical about on-site hotel dining venues, as many try to get by with the bare minimum and count on convenience as the big draw.
Not J.W. Marriott. And not Primo.
The hotel has apparently decided to compete with outside restaurants for dinner guests, bringing in a bright young chef named Melissa Kelly. Her approach was to develop an ever-changing menu of Mediterranean cuisine, but created with locally sourced, organic ingredients. It works.
Our large group of ten was easily absorbed into the dining room. The comfortable seating and intimate lighting made us feel as if we were dining privately, and service was impeccable, contributing to a very relaxed and enjoyable meal.
The food was interesting, perfectly prepared and delectable. Starting with great pasta (as every Italian meal worth the name should), I elected the pan seared grouper for my entrée. Although a Florida staple available at many restaurants, this grouper was truly memorable in both preparation and presentation.
Our large group of friends all ordered different entrees and were generous in sharing and comparing. Every morsel that came across my plate was great. I only wish I time to return for another meal to sample more of the menu. Being Orlando, I am sure I will be back to Primo.
